The year 2009 was a runaway hit for the sixteen year old teen star Demi Lovato. An American actress and musician who writes, composes and sings her own songs, Demi Lovato came to be known to the world for her role in Disney Channel Original Movies called �Camp Rock�. She is also starring in second part called Camp Rock 2: The Final Jam. Her first album �Don�t Forget� was released in September 2008 securing the second place on Billboard 200. Over 89,000 copies were sold in the very first week of release. The second album �Here We Go Again� in 2009 was a bigger success topping Billboard 200 and selling over 108,000 copies.
Born in Albuquerque, NM Demetria Devonne �Demi� Lovato to parents Patrick and Dianna Lovato, Demi was brought up in Dallas, Texas. She has one sister named Dallas, and a half sister Madison De la Garza. Her mother in her hey days was a Cheerleader for the Dallas Cowboys and a country recording artist. Demi is a mixture of Italian, Mexican and Irish origin. Lovato started her career as an actor in the series �Barney & Friends� a tv series for children, when she was barely six years old. She played the role of Angel who makes her presence in seasons seven and eight. Later in 2006 she appeared in �Prison Break� as a guest star in the role of Danielle Curtin in the �First Down� episode. She was also "Nicol"e in the TV sitcom �Just Jordan� in the episode called �Slippery When Wet�. In the year 2007 she played "Charlotte Adam" in the Disney Channel Original Short Series �As The Bell Rings� which was released in August and some of her songs including �Shadow� were also featured in this series.
She confessed that music was �her first passion� as it was something very natural to her and that acting was more of a hobby. When she was a student in school she says she was bullied so much in the seventh grade, that she even begged her mother to stop sending her to school and give her a private tutor instead. But at the end of it all she graduated from High School in May 2009.
She was nominated for the Young Artist Awards for her acting in �Camp Rock�. She won two Teen Choice Awards in the category �Choice TV- Breakout Star Female� for �Sonny With a Chance� and she shared the same award with David Archuleta for �Choice Music Tour� for their Summer Tour 2009 and was nominated for �Choice Other Stuff-Red Carpet Icon: Female� and �Choice TV Star Female� etc.Demi Lovato�s best friend is Selena Gomez whom she has known since when they were kids acting together at the Barney& Friends Auditioning. Lovato is a devout Christian and always prays along with her band before any of their performances. She is most appreciated for her role as Mitchie Torres in the �Camp Rock� and its sequel that has just about completed its filming.
In spite of her busy schedule she has taken time off to collaborate with Miley Cyrus and Jesse McCartney for the second yearly Concert for Hope. This is a program that promotes the fight for cancer, specifically for the renowned Cancer Center known as City of Hope.She had a short affair with Trace Cyrus a singer at the Metro Station and the brother of her fellow star Miley Cyrus, but the relationship soon ended because of their contradictory timings as far as both their careers were concerned.
It has not been roses all the way for this young girl. Just lately her family endured a tornado prompting the young girl to start working for the Red Cross. What she did was to call out to her fantastic crowd of fans and through a text message requested every one of them to contribute $5.
It seems like she was fated for recognition the day she came into this world and with just appearances in �Barney & Friends� she just got captivated into the media world. In �Camp Rock" she plays the role of a girl who wants badly to become a rock star and she did so much justice to her role that she became an instant hit.
