David Brent Keuning is the guitarist for the American synth rock band The Killers.
Keuning is originally from Pella, Iowa. However, he and future bandmate, Brandon Flowers, first met when Flowers answered Keuning's classified ad looking for bandmates and listing Oasis as an influence. He's quoted as saying he had to take out The Cure as a listed influence because of the strange, heavily gothic people who kept replying. He says, "I like the cure, but I don't eat bats."[citation needed] Keuning had already written a couple verses to the future hit Mr. Brightside, and Flowers added a chorus. The two later met musical student Ronnie Vannucci Jr. and medical courier Mark Stoermer, and the band was soon formed.
