Mags studied English in school.He likes to listening to the Beatles and the Doors. When he was growing up he formed bands like Spider Empire, and later their first more successful band, Bridges. Mags credited the lyrics to many a-ha songs, and also composing and producing an entire album. Mags got married in 1992 with Heidi Rydjord, and they have two sons. His art works he made was displayed in prestigious museums in Norway. He also worked on the project "Electra", which involved displaying artwork across the internet. In 1994 he made a sountrack to the Norwegian movie "Ti Kniver I Hjertet" (Ten Knives In The Heart). His woodcuts named Kutt" was printed in 1995.
