USHER FEAT. PLIES - Hey Daddy (Daddy’s Home)

January 19th, 2010

R&B superstar Usher Raymond brings his home to work with him. His 2004 blockbuster album “Confessions” was a vivid disclosure that dealt with his high-profile break-up with Chilli of TLC. Recently Usher’s world has been rocked by divorce from stylist wife Tameka Foster. Ush says the upcoming “Raymond Vs. Raymond” will be “about personal experiences.” The disc missed its pre-Christmas street date because “we want to give it the proper setup.” Or could it be that that Usher is hoping for a happy ending like “Hey Daddy (Daddy’s Home)”?

USHER FEAT. NICKI MINAJ - Little Freak

January 11th, 2010

It seems like singles from Usher’s upcoming “Raymond Vs. Raymond” couldn’t leak any faster if they were being given away by Amazon. “Little Freak”, the latest, is produced by Polow Da Don and features Lil’ Wayne protégé and perpetually ovulating guest-du-jour Nicki Minaj, who suggests she and Ush engage in her surname with Cassie. The song samples Stevie Wonder’s “Living For the City” and comes off like a slow jam crossed with the James Bond theme. But, oh my! If the topic of this song has anything to do with Raymond’s pending divorce (the purported subject matter of the album), Usher better get himself a good lawyer.

GUCCI MANE FEAT. USHER - Spotlight

October 30th, 2009

gucci-mane-001
The year 2005 was both yin and yang for Atlanta bling rapper Gucci Mane. He charted his first international hit, “Icy”; became involved in a quarrel with that song’s collaborator, Young Jeezy; and found himself facing murder charges over the attempted theft of a necklace. Prosecutors dropped the charges, but soon after the release of “Back To The Trap House” the MC born Radric Davis literally was, serving six months for violating parole. He’s back in the “Spotlight” temporarily with “The State vs. Radric Davis” LP. But it’s really only a matter of time…

USHER - Papers

October 16th, 2009

“I look at music like a diary,” R&B crooner Usher said recently, adding that his forthcoming disc, “Raymond Vs. Raymond”, will be “racy, risky and edgy, and sometimes about personal experiences”. He might as well be talking about its first single: Recently shaken by the divorce filing by wife Tameka Foster, Ush sings the blues on the autobiographical “Papers”. But as we heard after his pre-”Confessions” high-profile break-up with Chilli of TLC, heartbreak brings the best out of the mult-Platinum singer.

“I look up in the sky and I wonder why / Why you had to go,” Chris Brown sings on this Michael Jackson tribute. “I know it’s better on the other side / You were chosen from the start.” After hearing the news of MJ’s untimely death, The Game went into the studio and created “Better On The Other Side”. On it Diddy testifies to Jacko’s influence (”You made the world dance”), and The Game reveals that Jackson helped end the feud between the rapper and 50 Cent: “First thing I did when I heard was call Puff / Cos him and Mike tried to stop the beef between us.” The Game says he’ll dedicate the upcoming “The R.E.D. Album” to Michael, as well.

“Moving Mountains” is the next single from Usher’s current album, “Here I Stand”. Usher recently sent shockwaves through the industry when he re-hired his mother as his manage after a public breakup last year. Usher’s mom had managed her son’s career since he was a teen star, but he broke business ties with her in 2007, saying he wanted her to focus on being his mom.
