GAME - Big Money

December 1st, 2009

the-game-002
Gangsta role-model Game’s first album after his irrevocable retirement was supposed to be a collaboration with former members of N.W.A. That didn’t happen, so he made “The R.E.D. Album” instead. What’s it about? “I am what I am,” Game defends. “R.E.D.–that’s rededicated to hip-hop, to my ‘hood, Compton. Rededicated to my family, rededicated to everything.” By which he means rededicated to the Bloods street gang, notorious murders, drug traffickers, thieves, and extortionists who identify themselves by flashing the color of the blood they so regularly shed. Like Game said, “Big Money” is all about family.

“I look up in the sky and I wonder why / Why you had to go,” Chris Brown sings on this Michael Jackson tribute. “I know it’s better on the other side / You were chosen from the start.” After hearing the news of MJ’s untimely death, The Game went into the studio and created “Better On The Other Side”. On it Diddy testifies to Jacko’s influence (”You made the world dance”), and The Game reveals that Jackson helped end the feud between the rapper and 50 Cent: “First thing I did when I heard was call Puff / Cos him and Mike tried to stop the beef between us.” The Game says he’ll dedicate the upcoming “The R.E.D. Album” to Michael, as well.

THE GAME FEAT. LIL’ WAYNE - My Life

The Game, born Jayceon Taylor, found inspiration after being shot during a home invasion. He then turned to classic Hip-Hop albums for his inspiration, and the influence is audible. He turned to albums like “The Chronic”, “Doggy Style” and others from Notorious B.I.G., N.W.A. and Jay-Z. He took that influence and poured it into his 2004 CD, “The Documentary”, which you can add to the list of “must have” Hip-Hop albums listed above. He enlisted one of the most desirable artists to collaborate with when he signed-up Lil’ Wayne for the single “My Life” off of The Game’s “LAX” album, in stores now.

NAS FEAT. CHRIS BROWN & THE GAME - Make The World Go Round

September 5th, 2008

Chris Brown and The Game give rapper Nas a hand on “Make The World Go Round”, the next single from Nas’ “Untitled” album. Asked why he chose to use his voice to project the world’s problems, Nas said: “The ones that say they don’t have a message and all that, they’re gangsters, man. Not everybody wants to have that responsibility. I tend to see things and I’ve always questioned things since I was young. And when I see things that are unjust, I react. I may be a little bit more extreme than a few of the other artists, that’s just who I am. I’m not a specialist on race matters. I just have an opinion, I just have an experience to talk about.” For the latest on Nas, go to www.myspace.com/nas.

THE GAME FEAT. LIL’ WAYNE - My Life

August 29th, 2008

“My Life” has been made the next single from The Game’s album, “L.A.X.” The track also features Lil’ Wayne. The Game, who is known for his ongoing verbal battles with his peers, is at it yet again. This time, his words are pointed at Jay-Z, who The Game labeled as not “hardcore” enough to respond to his taunts. The Game took offense to Jay-Z when he mistook a lyric in one of Jay’s songs as an attack on him. Jay-Z cleared up the rumors and insisted that he had not dissed The Game but The Game continued to disrespect Jay and now he’s saying: “I’m too disrespectful for Jay-Z, I go too hard. His beef is mediocre beef, it’s more swag and less hardcore. Me, I go in on your grandma, your kids and your girl. It will get ugly and I don’t mind. I can be a fan of Jay and still rip him limb from limb lyrically and still be a fan. I’m going to make him mad enough to where he has to say something.” The latest on The Game is at www.comptongame.com.

THE GAME FEAT. KEYSHIA COLE - Game’s Pain

August 8th, 2008

the-game-0011
The Game is getting ready for the 26 August release of his album, “L.A.X.”, by releasing “Game’s Pain” featuring Keyshia Cole, as the lead single. Another track on the album will see The Game paying tribute to fallen rap icons Tupac Shakur, Notorious B.I.G. and Eazy-E. The Game said the track, “Never Can Say Goodbye” will offer his version of each of the artists’ final moments. He stated: “I wanted to be in Biggie, Pac and Eazy-E’s shoes the last 10 minutes of their lives, so I wrote verses as if I were. In their last moments, they knew they were going to die, or at least felt like they might. I got shot and felt like it was over for me. I’ve got something in common with them except I didn’t pass; I came back to life.” For the latest on The Game, visit www.comptongame.com.
