PLIES FEAT. TREY SONGZ - Kitty Kitty

May 19th, 2010

Like Young Jeezy but think he’s a little soft? Then this golden-toothed Florida MC and self-avowed “goon” might be for you. Plies is making the most of his moment, glutting the market with albums’ worth of pop-friendly sex jams (it’s amazing how often one can rhyme “wet” and “undressed” when at a loss for words) and no-frills chest-thumping that marry vocabulary-limited singsong choruses asserting his goon-itude with minimalist hand claps and kick drums. “Kitty Kitty” is off Plies’ upcoming “Goon Affiliated” CD.

YOUNG JEEZY FEAT. PLIES - Lose My Mind

March 9th, 2010

“That’s how I feel when I go out,” rapper Young Jeezy said of his ode to the liquor-induced blackout, “Lose My Mind”. “‘Lost my mind and my cell phone in the same night.’ I been partying my whole life. When I leave [the club], I don’t wanna remember nothing. If you ain’t losing your mind, you ain’t partying right.” The single will eventually wind up on the CD “Thug Motivation 103″, whenever that is. “I ain’t gonna put it out there unless it’s rock, unless it’s hard, unless it’s right.” That could take until June, Jeezy say.

USHER FEAT. PLIES - Hey Daddy (Daddy’s Home)

January 19th, 2010

R&B superstar Usher Raymond brings his home to work with him. His 2004 blockbuster album “Confessions” was a vivid disclosure that dealt with his high-profile break-up with Chilli of TLC. Recently Usher’s world has been rocked by divorce from stylist wife Tameka Foster. Ush says the upcoming “Raymond Vs. Raymond” will be “about personal experiences.” The disc missed its pre-Christmas street date because “we want to give it the proper setup.” Or could it be that that Usher is hoping for a happy ending like “Hey Daddy (Daddy’s Home)”?

PLIES FEAT. CHRIS J - Put It On Ya

November 28th, 2008

Known as a loud mouth and loose cannon long before anybody had even heard him, rapper Plies was arrested for possession of a concealed weapon during an ‘06 nightclub altercation that resulted in members of his entourage charged with attempted murder. Which, in the hip-hop world, is the kind of publicity you can’t buy. Plies issued his debut, “The Real Testament”, in 2007; dropped “Definition Of Real” 10 months later; and a mere six month after that comes his third album, “Da REAList”, and “Put It On Ya”, featuring Chris J.

“Please Excuse My Hands” is the second official single from Plies’ second album, “Definition Of Real”. The track also features Jamie Foxx and The-Dream. In other Plies news, the rapper recently created a non-profit organization that promotes what he called a “more functional, productive and just community.” The Power of Visions project will award two $5,000 US Dollar scholarships to recipients from their native South Florida, USA neighborhoods. One male and one female student will receive the “Somebody Loves You” scholarship, with children of incarcerated parents receiving special consideration. Plies said: “We want to provide those who have been affected by the negative impacts of the prison system with a sense of hope and to let them know that they are not forgotten. No matter what adversities one may face in life, one thing remains true and that is that somebody loves you.” For more details, go to www.pliesworld.com.

FAT JOE FEAT. PLIES & DRE - Ain’t Sayin’ Nothin’ [Clean]

July 25th, 2008

Fat Joe gets help from Plies and Dre on “Ain’t Sayin’ Nothin’”, the latest track from Fat Joe’s eighth album, “The Elephant In The Room”. Known for his heavy set appearance, Fat Joe admitted that he is consciously taking better care of his health, saying: “I’m conscious about what I’m eating and I try to work out as much as possible. I’m working 22 hours a day so I don’t see a breath of fresh air and that’s making me watch what I eat. I’m eating lettuce for breakfast, lunch and dinner!” For more on Fat Joe, go to www.fat-joe.com.
