PINK - Glitter In the Air

February 8th, 2010

Pink wanted to call her latest album “Heartbreak Is A Motherf*cker”, and it’s admittedly a bold move to base not only an entire song cycle on a specific failed romance–in Pink’s case to pro motocross rider Carey Hart–but also to package, promote and tour the disc as such. “Funhouse” in its slimmest version is 18 songs, and by the time you get to the simple piano ballad “Glitter In The Air” a dozen tracks in, the listener feels dumped as well. Good thing Pink and Corey patched thing up–we can’t imagine a world in which our pop stars suffered like real people!

PINK - I Don’t Believe You

September 25th, 2009

The songs on spunky pop princess Pink’s humongous comeback album “Funhouse” were inspired by the singer’s separation from her husband, the motocross racer Carey Hart. Smash singles like “So What”, “Bad Influence” and “Funhouse” put a defiant face on a heartbroken woman intent on partying the blues away. So now that she and Hart are back together? Pink claims the plea for reconciliation “I Don’t Believe You” is her favourite song from “Funhouse” because “it’s like taking a deep breathe and saying, ‘Here I am. Take me.”‘ Hopefully this doesn’t turn out to be one of those clean-and-sober Aerosmith things.

PINK - Funhouse

Richard Thompson compared his bumpy marriage to Linda Thompson to a roller coaster named “The Wall Of Death”. Spunky popster Pink picks up this carnival thread, calling her troubled relationship with motocross star Carey Hart a “Funhouse” on her entry into the prestigious line of autobiographical break-up albums that stretches back to Dylan’s “Blood On The Tracks”. Naturally “Funhouse” doesn’t share any musical similarities with either “Blood” or “Shoot Out The Lights”, but Pink’s album is also emotionally defiant, shrugging off her divorce in the first song–”So What”!

BUTCH WALKER FEAT. PINK - Here Comes The…

March 13th, 2009

After a brief taste of major-label success during the ’90s with Marvelous 3, whose “Freak Of The Weak” was a modern-rock hit in 1999, singer/guitarist Butch Walker traded his bandmates for a day job producing such marketable artists as Avril Lavigne, Katy Perry and Pink. But Walker simultaneously maintained a solo career, albeit a little-heard one. In 2007 Southern California wildfires destroyed the home he was renting and all of his possessions. Walker reevaluated his priorities and decided to concentrate on his own music. The sad nugget of boozy blues, “Here Comes The…”, features Pink singing harmony.

PINK - Please Don’t Leave Me

February 13th, 2009

Pink made clear with “Funhouse”’s album-opening single, “So What”, that she’s more than ready to get out of a relationship (to motocross racer Carey Hart, no secret), thrilled that she’s still a rock star, still drinking in the afternoon, still talking sh*t. But “Please Don’t Leave Me” reveals the other side of Pink’s bipolarity: “I always say how I don’t need you”, she sings, “But it’s always gonna come right back to this / Please don’t leave me”. Famed pop songwriter/producer Max Martin helmed the music of both.

PINK - Sober

Say it’s not so! “No pain inside, you’re my protection”…”coming down… looking for myself”? Ohhhh, she’s talking about chemical dependency to mask abandonment issues, not the kind — you know, to enhance social skills. Because the Pink we know has no time for a pity party, not when she’s just gotten over her ex-husband, and has a big hit album in “Funhouse”, and another smash single with “Sober”. Let’s get this party started! On the next song…

PINK - So What

November 7th, 2008

Early in her career under La Face records, Pink sang backing vocals for Diana Ross, 98 Degrees, Kenny Lattimore and Tevin Campbell. These days, Pink sings backup for no one. After four successful albums, Pink is now releasing the CD “Funhouse”, and the current single, “So What” has been her biggest success to date, topping the charts in eleven countries. She has also stated that the album is her most vulnerable so far, due to the fact that she recently divorced her husband Carey Hart.

PINK - So What

August 22nd, 2008

Pink gets autobiographical on the video for her new song, “So What”, which is the first single from her upcoming album. In the song and video, Pink addresses her public breakup with hubby Carey Hart and dismisses her relationship with the motocross rider, insulting him in the lyrics. In fact, she even takes a chainsaw to a tree bearing the inscription “Alecia + Carey” carved in a heart. Pink and Carey Hart split in February but Hart recently revealed he is still hopeful for a reconciliation. Not if Pink means what she’s singing! Find more at www.pinkspage.com.
