As its title suggested, last year’s “Primavera Anticipada”, Laura Pausini’s first album of new material in four years, was a new chapter in the Italian singer’s storied career. For the first time she had a hand in writing all the songs, and although as usual Alfredo Rapetti (aka Cheope) is co-credited throughout, the tracks especially reflect Laura’s personal life. It was a smash in Europe and Mexico (in its Spanish incarnation), and Pausini celebrated with a series of concerts, documented on the new “Laura Live World Tour 09″. Each of the disc’s 15 live selections was recorded in a different city. “Non Sono Lei” is among three unreleased songs included.

By 2004, roughly a decade after she made her recording debut at the age of 18, Laura Pausini had sold over 25 million albums worldwide, quite an impressive feat for someone who had never broken into the lucrative English-language market. The Italian singer made her live debut at 12, but her singing didn’t really take off until 1993, when she released her self-titled disc and scored a big hit with “La Solitudine”. A year later–in a practice that would come to define her career–she released a Spanish version of her debut, including a version of her breakthrough hit. “Con La Musica Alla Radio” adds to Laura’s Spanish crossover success.

As its title suggests, “Primavera Anticipada”, Laura Pausini’s first album of new material in four years, is a new chapter in the Italian singer’s storied career. For the first time she had a hand in writing every song on the album. Yet while the it marks a step forward in Pausini’s career, showcasing a more personalized cycle of songs, in terms of music and style it’s highly reminiscent of her past two albums, “Escucha” (2004) and “Yo Canto” (2006). Considering both were awarded Latin Grammys for Best Pop Vocal Album by a Female, it should come as no surprise. “Un Fatto Ovvio” shows Pausini’s voice is as strong as ever, only this time it’s her own.
