Who says grime doesn’t pay? Joining Lily Allen, Calvin Harris and Basement Jaxx as the latest artist to jump on the Dizzee train, international DJ remix giant Armand Van Helden lets go of the steel wheels to lend a hand to Rascal’s new single, “Bonkers”, which follows up the massive No. 1 track, “Dance Wiv Me”. Both tracks will be included on Dizzee Rascal’s hotly anticipated disc “Tongue ‘N’ Cheek”, the first release on Diz’s new label, Dirtee Stank. “Stank is the way forwards,” he says of his imprint, which he started to help out artists with “social problems” that might scare away other labels. But about the Dirtee Stank logo, a picture of flies circling faeces? “Gulliest thing I could think of,” Dizzee shrugs.

Game Rebellion has been making big waves on the New York Afro-punk/Black Rock scene for three years, a band whose metal, punk and rudeboy skanking licks sound as credible and crunchy as their hip-hop lyrics. Internationally raised DJ Armand Van Helden became one of the top names in dance music–first, as one of the top in-house producers for Strictly Rhythm during the early ’90s; second, as a solo artist beginning with ‘96 “Old School Junkies: The Album”. Since then he’s remixed the stars, including a worldwide No. 1 for Tori Amos (”Professional Widow”). What do you get when you throw the two together? “Illin N Fillin It”!
