Sylverster (full name: Sylvester James) died on December 16, 1988 in San Fransisco, California, U.S.A.. Sylvester was an American disco and soul singer, and a gay drag performer. He is considered to be one of the first Hi-NRG artists. Sylvester was sometimes known as the “Queen of Disco,” although this moniker has also been bestowed on some of the ladies of the disco era (i.e. Gloria Gaynor, Donna Summer). Glenn Miller (full name: Alton Glenn Miller) died on December 15, 1944 in English Channel. Glenn Miller was an American jazz musician, arranger, composer, and bandleader in the swing era. He was one of the best-selling recording artists from 1939 to 1943, leading one of the best known “Big bands”. Miller’s signature recordings include In the Mood, American Patrol, Chattanooga Choo Choo, Tuxedo Junction, Moonlight Serenade, Little Brown Jug and Pennsylvania 6-5000. While traveling to entertain U.S. troops in France during World War II, Miller’s plane disappeared in bad weather. His body has never been found. Melanie Thornton was an American pop singer who found fame in Germany and fronted the Eurodance group La Bouche, who found success with the singles “Be My Lover” and “Sweet Dreams” in the mid-1990s. She forged a moderately successful solo career in Germany before her death. Her hits include “Love How You Love Me”, “Wonderful Dream”, “Memories”, and “Heartbeat”.
