In the upcoming film “What Goes Up”, morally-challenged newspaper reporter Campbell Babbitt (Steve Coogan) decides to call an old college friend turned small-town teacher, only to discover the friend’s apparent suicide. Opportunistically, Babbitt moves in on his friend’s students in hopes of getting a story about an unsung hero who made an impact on the school’s social misfits. In a reversal of roles, Babbitt finds himself learning from the dysfunctional outcasts–led by a repressed voyeur (Josh Peck), a pregnant schemer (Olivia Thirlby), and a narcissistic seductress (Hilary Duff). Duff attempts to evolve her career into adult roles via the indie route, and contributes “Any Other Day” to the soundtrack.
