SUGARFREE - Splendida

This Sicilian Rock/Pop band began their career covering early Rock, R&B, and Funk. They sought a strong lead vocalist to collaborate with and begin writing original material with. They soon discovered Matteo Amantia, and the creative process ensued. The young band reserved a studio and enlisted the help of Luca Galeano (keyboard), Carmelo Siracusa (bass), Vincenzo Pistone (keyboard) and Giuseppe Lo Lacono (drums). Together they created their 2004 debut album “Clepto-Maine”, which spawned their single “Cleptomania”. The single “Splendida” is off of their 2008 album, “Argento”. Solange Piaget Knowles has no trouble creating her own sense of musical artistry and style in the shadow of her multi-platinum, movie-making, booty-shaking, hit-producing sister Beyoncé Knowles. Solange’s second album, “Sol-Angel and The Hadley St. Dreams”, is different that her first. This album opens her creativity and embraces the sounds of late ’60s Soul. Solange wanted to begin work on her solo endeavors at 13. She heeded her parents’ advice, and waited. Meanwhile, she performed as a dancer for her older sisters super R&B group Destiny’s Child. After her two-year residency under Destiny’s Child, her father finally signed her to World Music label. Her solo projects have received favorable reviews by critics, who cite the project as being brave and fun.

ROBIN THICKE - The Sweetest Love

Robin comes from a family of entertainers. His mom is actress Gloria Loring, and his father is actor Alan Thicke, who is best known for his role as the dad on the American sitcom “Growing Pains”. Marvin Gaye and Stevie Wonder were among the younger Thicke’s influences. “Lost Without You” was his Billboard Hot 100 breakthrough single in 2007, reaching the coveted No. 1 position on that chart. Robin’s most recent expression is his 2008 album “Something Else”. He began working on the album after finishing up his tour, and the first single, “Magic”, was leaked onto the internet in May 2008. The second single is “The Sweetest Love”, and critics expect it to be a successful follow-up to “Magic”.

NOAH AND THE WHALE - 5 Years Time

This rock/folk band is from the UK and is pretty new to the music scene. However, they’ve managed to grab the attention of fans worldwide. The lads formed in 2006 in Twickenham, London, England. The young band consists of Charlie (vocals/guitar), Urby (bass), Doug (drums) and Tom (fiddle). The lads cite Punk Rock and Folk as their musical influences. The single, “5 Years Time”, was first released in 2007, then re-released in 2008 to become their first Top Ten hit. The video was first released on YouTube in July 2008, and has received almost one million hits.

NÈG’MARRONS FEAT. CESARIA EVORIA - Petites Iles

Nèg’Marrons is a French-Reggae combo from the French West Indies that has gained much success since their first album in 1997. Cesaria Evoira is a Cape Verdean singer that is often referred to as the “barefoot diva” for performing without her shoes. She lost her mother at a very young age, and had to begin working as a cook, and eventually went to an orphanage. It was at the orphanage where Cesaria first learned to sing in the choir. Her uncle, B. Leza, was a well know musician, and many of her sultry love songs on her early albums were his. After being forced to take a 10-year break to support her family and battle alcoholism, she finally became an international star at the age of 47 with her 1992 album, “Miss Perfumado”.

METALLICA - Cyanide

This is one of America’s most renowned heavy metal rock bands. Metallica has been rocking for over 15 years. The band came together when drummer Lars Ulrich placed an advertisement in a Los Angeles newspaper. Since then, the band has had to replace Cliff Burton who was lost in a tragic bus accident. That’s when Jason Newsted came in. Newsted left the band in 2001 and the guys inducted Robert Trujillo to the stage in 2003. “Cyanide” is the first singe off of their 2008 album “Happy Death Magnetic Day”, which was produced by the legendary Rick Rubin. Front man James Hetfield said the title of the album was an observation on how some people are drawn to death like a magnet, and others are afraid and push it away. MARTINA TOPLEY-BIRD - Baby Blue

Martina has worked with various established artists like David Holmes, Gorillaz, DIPLO, Primus and the John Spencer Blues Explosion. She developed her skills through those collaborations, and collected all her recently acquired knowledge to release her solo debut album “Quixotic” (2003). “The Blue God” (2008) is Martina’s second album, and was produced by Danger Mouse (Gnarls Barkley). Martina said that she was reflective of her time between the two albums, and began to question her “human” achievements. This self-discovery was sparked by the death of her father, Martin Topley, right before her album “The Blue God”. The single “Baby Blue” is the third single off the album, preceded by “Carnies” and “Poison”. MARIO VENUTI - Gli Amanti Di Domani

Born in Siracusa, Italy in the early ’60s, Mario grew up listening to The Beatles. Throughout his childhood he studied music and learned how to play the piano and guitar. In 1984 Mario joined the group Denovo, and they released five albums before splitting in 1990. This is when Mario moved to Brazil, and grew as an artist as he observed Brazilian bossa nova. In 1994 he released his first solo album, “Un Po’ Di Febbre”. Most recently, Venuti has written for other artists, and appeared in the Taormina, Sicily musical “Tre Caravelle”, which was about Christopher Columbus. “Gli Amanti Di Domani” is off of his 2008 album “L’Officina Del Fantastico”.

JONAS BROTHERS - Lovebug

Jonas Brothers continue to gain international recognition as they release “Lovebug”, the trio’s official second single off their third album, “A Little Bit Longer”. The Disney Channel was the first to give these New Jersey natives their public platform. They have since recorded three studio albums through Hollywood Records, and are set to participate in two Disney Channel original series projects. The “Jo Bros” have managed to maintain a wholesome family-friendly image, and were recently mocked at the American VMA’s by host Russell Brand for their “promise” rings. Their parents asked the brothers if they would wear “promise” rings as a symbol and reminder to abstain from pre-marital sex. The brothers liked the idea, and now proudly wear them on their left ring finger. Russell Brand has since apologized for poking fun of their rings.

FEEDER - Tracing Lines

These lads formed their rock outfit in 1992 while in Newport, South Wales. Grant Nicholas (singer/writer/guitarist) and Jon Lee (drummer/guitarist) were the founding members of Feeder. The band was called Reel when they began in 1994, and by 1997 they changed their name to Feeder. In 2001, their third album, “Echo Park”, put Feeder on the charts with the lead single, “Buck Rogers”. On 7 January 2002 tragedy stuck the group when drummer Jon Lee committed suicide at his home in Miami. The band took a short break, and returned with their first platinum album “Comfort In Sound” (2002). In 2008 the band released their sixth album “Silent Cry”, which debuted at No. 8 on the official UK Album chart.
